PIKE PERCH (ZANDER) – STIZOSTEDION LUCIOPERCA L. – PERCIDAE SPREADING IN NORTH-WEST ROMANIA. The present study shows the spreading into the Maramures and Somes Valley of the pike perch, the most valuable fish in this area. According to the bibliography and the data collected from local anglers, as well as according to our own research studies, the authors concluded that the pike perch has a good area of development in this region (North-Western Romania) into the Tisa, Somes, Tur rivers, as well as at the mouths of Iza and Lapus and into the Calinesti Oas, Stramtori Firiza, Bodi Ferneziu and Bodi Baia Sprie, Nistru, Ocna Sugatag lakes. Despite the fact that the perch has extended over this area and increased its abundance, it is because of the poaching and the cease of re-populations for lack of money, that increased measures of water repopulating with perch are absolutely necessary. The perch could be made available with the assistance of the Fish Breeding Chair of the Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine of the Timisoara University.
