Abstract: The analysis of heavy metals in the roots, aerial parts and flowers of three Senecio species (S.
jacobaea, S. vernalis, and S. vulgaris) has been performed. The mean levels of heavy metals in vegetal
dried samples were in normal limits. The results indicate that there is not any real danger by utilization of galenic forms of Senecionis herba. Differences between the species depend on the presence of organic compounds with ligand character and on the environmental conditions.
Keywords: Senecio sp., heavy metals, content
